The Science of Compassion

The Duke and Duchess convened leaders and researchers at the intersection of digital reform & the science of compassion

The Duke and Duchess strongly believe that compassion is the defining cultural force of the 21st century, which underpins the mission of Archewell. In early 2020, the couple convened a small gathering at Stanford University, where they brought together a number of experts across the fields of digital reform, online spaces, mental health, and the science of compassion. Aspects of this conversation ultimately led to the creation of a partnership between the later-established The Archewell Foundation and Dr. James Doty, who leads the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education, Stanford Medicine.
