Take Care of Yourself and Others: Mental Health and Emotional Well-Being Resources

May 2021

Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey’s highly anticipated The Me You Can’t See, a documentary series more than two years in the making, is streaming now on Apple TV+… and it couldn’t come at a more critical time. As Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, says in the trailer, “The results of this year will be felt for decades—for kids, families, husbands, wives, everybody.”

In The Me You Can’t See, Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey guide honest discussions of mental health with high-profile guests such as singer, songwriter, and actress Lady Gaga as well as everyday people, including a Syrian refugee, a first-generation college student, a military veteran, and more. The series features illuminating stories from across the globe, giving you the opportunity to seek truth, understanding, and newfound hope for the future.

To help shed light on different pathways to treatment, the producers partnered with an advisory board of 14 accredited and respected mental health professionals and organizations from around the world, including California Surgeon General Dr. Nadine Burke Harris, Cofounder of Sangath and Professor of Global Health at Harvard Medical School Dr. Vikram Patel, as well as Chief Executive of the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand Shaun Robinson.

Prince Harry and the filmmakers hope the series reminds people who are struggling with mental health, or on the journey to healing, that they are not alone. Together with the advisory board, Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey also put together this reading list of thought-provoking articles to help guide honest conversations about mental health and emotional well-being. If you or someone you know needs help, you can find someone to talk to in your country and language by visiting The Me You Can’t See’s global mental health resources guide.

As Prince Harry says in the series, “To make that decision to receive help is not a sign of weakness. In today’s world—more than ever—it’s a sign of strength.”
